An IP Camera or Internet Protocol camera is a form of digital video camera, which is mainly used for surveillance. The difference between the IP camera and Closed Circuit Television Camera is that the IP camera can send and receive data via a computer network or via internet. In general, there are two different types of IP cameras:
1) Centralized IP cameras: These are the cameras which require a central NVR (network video recorder) for its performance. This type of cameras, handles recording as well as video and alarm management.
2) Decentralized IP cameras: These are the cameras which do not require a central network video recorder. These cameras have a built in recording function and they can record, utilizing a storage device like SD cards or a PC/Server.
